Weekend Sewing with Heather Ross

Came across this really fun challenge posted by fabric designer, Heather Ross.  She just came out with a new book called "Weekend Sewing" (it looks awesome) and is holding a contest to win a signed copy along with a box of fabric!  The challenge is to come up with a Summer wardrobe using ideas from her book, but you don't actually have to sew (unless you want to)- you can also do it scrapbook style or even use Photoshop like I did above.  To get the rest of the contest details go here

UPDATE:  Totally forgot to put the item links on here!  Sorry!

If you live in the Athens, Ga area and are looking for craft shows to participate in/attend then I would definitely recommend the Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa!  It will be held downtown in the Agora parking lot (near the 40 Watt) and will be a 2 day event this year.  Here is the link for more info and vendor applications.

Etsy Treasury

The wonderful Jillian featured my "Be Free Bird Necklace" in her treasury today!  Here is her collection of Etsy wares.  It has a nice bohemian feel to it, don't you think?  That polka dot skirt is super cute too, might have to get that...

Habitat for Humanity Benefit - Home Is Where The Heart Is (Sneak Peek #2)

Here's sneak peek #2 from the Habitat for Humanity Benefit posted here...

Also, I added some Valentine-y Love tunes to my blog this weekend that you can check out in my sidebar.  I did the option where you have to click play to start the music since I know some people get annoyed when music automatically starts playing on blogs.  Thoughts on that subject?  Automatic music play or no?

65 and Sunny!

What a day today!  65 degrees and sunny here in Athens, Ga!  I just had to buy this cute Spring dress at Old Navy (although the Hubs said it looks like I found it at a yard sale- whatev- yard sales are cool anyway- ha ha).  It looks great with my favorite boots and ivory cardigan and is my new favorite outfit.  Ok, off to get some sunshine :)

P.S.- I am now offering FREE SHIPPING on all of my prints for the month of February.  Find them in my Etsy shop.

Habitat for Humanity Benefit - Home Is Where The Heart Is (Sneak Peek #1)

Habitat for Humanity is something I've always been interested in and wanted to help with in some way.  I'm not much of a builder but I wanted to do something...  So a little over a year ago I came up with an idea to get local artists to decorate little wood houses and auction them off for money.  I pitched the idea to a friend of mine on the Habitat board, and a few months later it became a reality!  We decided to call the event "Home Is Where The Heart Is" and tie it together with Valentine's Day.  It was held a local Athens bar with food and live music and the best part is we were able to raise over $3,000 in just 2 hours!  The Habitat folks asked us to do it again this year so here we are...

The event will take place at the Lyndon House on Friday, February 20th from 6-8pm.  All of the houses will start at around $20 and bids will go up in $5 increments so you can get an awesome piece of local art for a great price!  So, if you live in the area and want to get out and support your local Athens Area Habitat for Humanity come on out!!!  We will have hors' devours and a cash bar and then you can grab a great dinner downtown afterwards.  There, I just planned you the perfect Friday night date- ha ha.  Oh, and if there is anyone interested in donating but can't make it to the event please shoot me an email and I can get you in contact with the Athens Area Habitat for Humanity peeps.

(Above is one of the houses I just finished for the upcoming event.  I will post sneak peeks of my other 2 next week...)

Etsy Treasury

I was featured in a cute Etsy Treasury today (thanks Ophelia!), so I thought I would share her picks with you guys because I really like this grouping.  For those that don't know an Etsy Treasury is a collection of hand-picked items put together based on themes, colors, etc.  From the looks of this one the bird trend isn't going away anytime soon and that makes me happy!  I don't think I will ever get sick of cute bird stuff...

Cirque Du Soleil

Saturday night Brian, my Mother-in-Law, and I went to see the new Cirque show "Kooza" in Atlanta.  It was amazing!  My favorite 2 acts are the ones shown at the bottom- the 2 guys that were on that crazy circle thing called "The Wheel of Death " and the 3 contortionist girls.  To see more pictures or get info on upcoming shows, here is their official link...
