Making it Personal...

Jewelry Packaging

One of the things I love about shopping on Etsy is knowing that what I buy is coming from an artist just like me.  Someone sitting in their studio, making items that they love to share with other people.  I really appreciate it when the seller includes a little note or personal touch that reminds me that this item is coming from an individual- not a big box chain store- and that they put a lot of time and thought into making their item.

I made some new thank you tags over the weekend by stamping a tiny wren onto pretty Tiffany Blue cardstock.  I plan on personalizing the notes with my new Martha Stewart writing pen (man, her crafting supplies are so nice!) and including it in my packages along with a business card.  I have found that business cards are essential when it comes to packaging.  A lot of my sales come from referrals of past customers so I think it is important to include at least one business card with all of my orders.  I place my jewelry into environmentally friendly recycled gift boxing and tie it all together with a raffia bow.  Hopefully these little extra touches let my customers know that I have put a lot of time into each piece and that I appreciate their business!

Speaking of Alice...

Have you guys ever seen the Alice in Wonderland pop-up book by Robert Sabuda?  His work is incredible, and his Wizard of Oz pop-up book is another one of my favorites.  You can pick up a copy of Alice here on Amazon.

I absolutely love Danita's artwork (seen here in my studio), and here Alice prints are amazing!  She has a wide array to choose from, but these are my fave.  Looks like she will also have Alice in Wonderland bookmarks available soon too, so I will definitely have to snatch some of those up!

Summer Salad

Eat Your Greens

This is one of my favorite Summer salads.  I borrowed the recipe from an awesome local Italian restaurant.  I like the kind of recipes that only have a couple of ingredients and are super easy to make but taste delicious!

• Mix 1 part balsamic dressing with 1 part honey and drizzle over salad
• Top with yellow raisins and crumbled goat cheese

That's it!

What's Your Color Sign?

Wanna waste some time?  Then look up your "color sign"!  Just go to Colorstrology  and click on your birthday month then day you were born.  Looks like I'm a Lavender:

Although you are highly sensitive and highly creative, it is your intelligence and keen sense of awareness that people often notice first.  Not much can get past you.  You have a good eye for beauty and notice the little things that others often miss.  If you do not practice a little detachment and compassion, your emotions can get the best of you.  Your personal color keeps you from distancing yourself from others.  Wearing, meditating, or surrounding yourself with Pastel Lavender helps you embrace love.  It centers you and allows you to move through your feelings with trust and ease.

Thanks Pantone, I'll take it!  Hope you all are having a great weekend.  Oh, and in case you haven't heard, FREE SHIPPING in my Etsy shop this weekend...

Vintage Brooch Necklace

Necklace Made from Vintage Brooch

Stopped by an Antique Shop on my way home today and picked up a little brooch.  Turned it into a pretty little necklace that hangs from a chocolate brown ribbon.  I think I will put it in my Etsy shop this weekend- that is, if I can part with it ;) ...

Easy Breezy...

Summer Hair

So sticking with the Summer theme, I wanted to share my favorite Summer Hairstyle.  Take two side braids pull them back and secure with bobby pins or elastic.  Simple and pretty.  Very L.C.-Molly Sims-Nicole Richie-ish, no?
Having a bad hair day?  Just add a braid or two, throw on your favorite flowery dress, and you are good to go!

Etsy Art Wall

My Etsy Art Wall in My Studio

My Etsy Art Wall in My Studio

For about a year now I've been collecting prints from Etsy artists.  Every once in a while when I would sell some jewelry I would use my paypal stash to buy a print from an artist that I really liked.  I needed a little "pick me up" this weekend, so I figured it would be nice to finally put together this Etsy art wall in my studio.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out (looks much better in real life- the colors are kinda funky in the pictures), and it was just what I needed to get me back on track in the studio.  It's funny how just moving around furniture or putting up new artwork can feel like a breath of fresh air and get me going again...
