Washi Tape Project #1: Pretty Keyboard

Washi Tape Keyboard
Washi Tape Keyboard

So my washi tape came in (so pretty!) and it's time to start checking projects off my list... I wanted to start with the keyboard first since I haven't been able to get it off my mind since I first saw this.  However, overall I'd give the project a 3 out of 5 stars and here's why...

PROS: My keyboard is waaaaay cuter now.  I absolutely love the way it looks.

CONS:  This project took FOREVER!  I'm sure there might be an easier way to do this, but to cut out each individual square, round the edges, etc. took at least a couple hours.  I should have timed it, but if I had to guess I'd say it was at least 2-2.5 episodes of the Housewives.

Once I finally got the tape the way I liked it I realized that there was no way I was going to be able to read the letters on my keys.  Not that I have to look down and see all the letters when I type, but I wanted to be able to see more of what was underneath the tape.  I assume this would be remedied if you chose lighter tapes, or tapes with less design on them, but I tend to go for saturated colors so this was a problem.  Add in another Housewives episode to go back over the tape with a Sharpie and draw the letters/numbers on the keys.

Last but not least I'm not sure how the tape is going to hold up.  I spend A TON of time on the computer and some of the corners are already starting to peel up a little bit.  I'm thinking it will probably last a couple of months before I need to take all of the tape back off but we'll see...

So am I glad I did it? Totally.  Would I do it again?  Probably not.  Now on to the next project, I'll keep you posted...

Genevieve

Oh Baby! New Collections for Look Love Send

Owl Baby Collection

Trellis Baby Collection

Damask Baby Collection
My friend Heather just had a baby girl so it prompted me to put together a few new collections for my licensing partner, Look Love Send.  Introducing Owl Baby, Baby Trellis, Funky Baby Damask, and Traditional Baby Damask.  There are customizable announcement cards, baby shower invites, and thank you notes.  You might recognize the owl up there... He was part of my felt Boho collection for Michaels.  That's one of the things I love about licensing, you can use your designs in so many different outlets and mediums!

Now I have to get my brain in wedding mode as that is the next set of collections I need to work on...  I need to do some research on what the big wedding trends are for this Spring... what are some of your favorite colors or trends you are seeing for parties or weddings?  I'd love to hear them!

Genevieve

BIG Announcement- My Boho Felt is in Michaels!!!

My Boho Felt Line is in Michaels!

My Boho Felt Line is in Michaels!

My Boho Felt Line is in Michaels!

So I can finally announce the big news I talked about around Christmas.  Yep, my Boho felt collection was picked up by Michaels Arts and Crafts Stores!  This was a ton of work and over a year in the making, but it has all finally paid off.  I'd definitely say it's my biggest accomplishment of my career and I'm so, so happy.  I've been shopping at Michaels since I was a kid and to finally have an end cap with my own line of products in stores across the country is truly unbelievable.

I am so thankful to my friends and family that have been supportive during the last couple of years... I'm lucky to have people in my life that keep me motivated and stay positive.  It's really easy to get discouraged when things don't work out how you'd like them to, when deals fall through at the last minute, when it takes a loooong time to make something happen, etc., but it you want something bad enough you have to just keep truckin'...  So not to get too cheesey up in here, but seriously, if you have a dream and are willing to put in the time and effort, then you CAN make it happen!

Feeling very grateful for this moment...

Genevieve

Washi Tape Projects

Washi Tape Projects

So, I've been eyeing Japanese Washi Tape for a while, but didn't want to spend my cash-ola on it until I had an arsenal of projects I could make with it.  A roll by itself isn't that bad, but to make some really cool stuff with it you have to have a nice range of colors and patterns.  I've thought about making my own tape and I've seen some DIY tutorials online, but just don't have the time for that right now (not to mention the ones you can already buy are SO pretty!).  Anyway, I went ahead and got a few rolls that should be arriving in my mailbox very soon... :)

In the meantime, here are some of my favorite projects that I found and placed on Pinterest.  If you have any projects you have done with Washi Tape or any ideas you like, please share in the comments section!  I'll be sure to post my completed projects on here too.

Have a great week!
Genevieve
